Hollow Man is a movie about a scientist, Dr. Sebastian Caine (Kevin Bacon) and his group of research assistants who are trying to prove invisibility possible. The experiment works and they successfully make this happen but there is one hitch: the subject can't see anything while made invisible so he starts attacking the lab with broken glass. Dr. Caine tries to stop him but in the process gets attacked by broken glass as well knocking him out for minutes before he finally wakes up again, falls off a twisting staircase landing on some shattered glass cutting his arm open, fighting off an urn that hits him in the head cutting it open also. Except for a little amount of blood leaking out, Dr. Caine shows no signs of blood flowing through his veins, no heartbeat and no breathing. The group of research assistants decide to hide Dr. Caine's strange condition from the others and they move his body into a hidden room where they begin to conduct experiments on him without anyone knowing about their activities. Dr. Caine is able to see what the research assistants are doing to him while he lies helpless on a hospital bed. Throughout the movie Dr. Caine can move his eyes and head a little bit, but he can't do much else because he's invisible and doesn't have a heartbeat or any blood flowing through his veins. He begins to hear what people are saying about him and can even feel their shadows, but that's about it for Dr. Caine in the movie. When Dr. Caine's body is most of the way but not completely dead, Dr. Bennet (Samuel L. Jackson) and Dr. Fletcher (Elisabeth Shue), the most loyal research assistants, begin to think that they may be able to bring him back with some kind of new scientific procedure. There is one scene when they talk about what would happen if their experiment ever got out in public and how they feel about it, but the last lines of this speech by Dr. Fletcher seems like a foreshadowing about what's going to happen in the rest of the movie: "Do you know what scares me? If we're successful, we'll change history. I'm not sure if I like our chances against God." The look on Bacon's face while Dr. Fletcher is talking about the permanence of the experiment seems real and believable, probably because he didn't want to hear about what would happen in the future. Throughout the movie there are three different scientists who do an experiment on Dr. Caine while he lies helpless in his experimental room with a TV screen nearby where he watches them do the experiment.The beginning of this movie shows a lot of people performing one experiment after another, most with no success but sometimes having a little bit of success.
